Thanagarians are the native species of the planet Thanagar.
Biography[]
A warrior race of human-like avian aliens that utilize special flight harnesses that augment their natural angel-like wings for flight. The race also utilized a unique metal ore called Nth Metal that they craft into weapons, which can discharge energy to maximize damage to their enemies. Thanagarians are also physically stronger than humans, but are not as strong as Kryptonians.[1]
Presumed Extinction[]
During Brainiac's manipulation of Kara as his puppet and instrument of destruction, she seemingly eradicated the entire Thanagarian population, with the only remnant being a mural record of her slaughter depicting the Kryptonian as some kind of evil goddess. Brainiac holographically preserved the consciousness of one Thanagarian for battle training.
When Superman was brought before Brainiac, the Thanagarian was one of three warriors the AI unleashed against him. After the Bolovaxian Green Lantern and the Parademon had been felled, the Thanagarian dive-bombed him but was defeated when Superman unleashed an electromagnetic pulse that disabled its drone body.[1]

Trivia[]
- Thanagarians are the race that the superheroes Hawkman and Hawkwoman are part of, who have the ability to reincarnate themselves into new lives with different personalities. While Hawkman was an established character from the JSA and DC’s Golden Age, it should be noted that the backstory of him being an alien from Thanagar was not added until 1961 when Silver Age comic writers revamped the character and introduced Hawkwoman.
