The Newskid Legion is a group of young kids who deliver newspapers for the Daily Planet. Flip Johnson--the leader and seemingly also the founder of the Newskid Legion--is the editor and chief of the Newskid Newspaper. Following Flamebird being bought by, and made a subsidiary of, the Daily Planet, the Newskid Legion were officially brought in as interns under Jimmy Olsen by Perry White.

- The Newskid Legion is a modern update of the Newsboys Legion, a cast of vigilante newsboys from the 1940s' Golden Age comics, created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. The characters were reintroduced and integrated into the world of Superman when Jack Kirby came to work for DC in the 1970s after a falling out with Marvel. Another incarnation appeared in the 1990s Superboy comics, which were Project Cadmus clones of the originals from the '40s.
