Mxyzptlk's Hat is a magical artifact created and worn by Mr Mxyzptlx which allows him to amplify his reality-warping abilities.
History[]
At some point, Mr. Mxyzptlk was apprehended by the League of Lois Lanes, which led to his hat being confiscated and stored securely within their headquarters. While he would escape after his apprehension, the lack of his hat would leave him vulnerable while crossing dimensions. In order to retrieve it, Mxyzptlk manipulates the Superman of Earth-12, convincing him that Lois Lane has been kidnapped and is being held in the Space and Superhero Museum. In truth, this elaborate deception is a ploy to break into the Museum’s vault and obtain Lois Prime's Recorder which contains the Master Key to the League's Headquarters. After infiltrating the headquarters, by provoking the League into attacking Superman and stealing their ship, Mxyzptlk ultimately recovered his hat, transformed it into a magical crown, and regained his full powers. He then launched an assault on both Superman and the League, initiating the headquarters' self-destruct sequence. However, Clark, Lois and Jimmy managed to outwit him by exploiting his speed and removing the hat, depowering him once again.[1]
Usage[]
- Power Augmentation: The hat is able to increase Mxyzptlk's power beyond their normal range.
- Transformation: The hat can transform Mxyzptlk. When worn by Mxyzptlk, it changes from a hat to a a sort of split crown.
