Kiss Kiss Fall in Portal is the seventh episode of Season 1 of My Adventures with Superman, and the seventh episode overall. It debuted on August 11, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Clark tries to plan a normal date without any Superman problems - but gets interrupted when Mr. Mxyzptlk sweeps him, Jimmy, and Lois into a high-stakes, multiverse-hopping chase!
Plot[]
Clark, having decided to be completely honest with Lois and Jimmy, takes his friends to the mysterious platform buried underneath his parents' farm. Jimmy, having deduced that the platform is actually a component of a spaceship, plays around with the ship's obelisks, while Clark asks Lois on a date as a way to make up for lying to her.
The next day, at the Kent-Olsen apartment, Jimmy finds Clark planning his date with Lois down to the smallest detail. Unnerved by his best friend's obsession, Jimmy goes to Lois' apartment, hoping to find some peace and tranquility. Instead, he finds Lois planning an investigation into Clark's past. She tells Jimmy that, as a way to thank Clark for all the times he has helped her, she will help him discover where he came from.
While Jimmy helps Lois pick up her dress from the laundromat, Clark gets an unexpected visit from a small, blue-skinned man. He introduces himself as Mr. Mxyzptlk, an interdimensional peacekeeper, and he needs Clark's help. He is already aware that Clark is Superman thanks to his knowledge of the infinite multiverse. According to Mxyzptlk, the Lois of this universe has been captured by a gang of interdimensional criminals. Clark, predictably worried about Lois, puts on his suit and agrees to help Mxyzptlk, who tells him that the kidnappers have taken measures against Mxyzptlk, which means that Superman will have to do the heavy-lifting in this mission. He then opens an interdimensional portal and takes Superman through it.
The portal throws Superman and Mxyzptlk into a room in which Mxyzptlk feels his powers weakening. He tells Superman to tear open a door, claiming that Lois is held on the other side and Superman complies, only to be attacked by a large robot. Superman defeats it and enters the room but finds no trace of Lois. The room only contains a large collection of artifacts and Mxyzptlk admits that he brought Superman to this room so he could help Mxyzptlk rob it. Lois was never in any real danger. Mxyzptlk only said she was in danger just to deceive Superman. As Mxyzptlk grabs a tape recorder, Superman attempts to capture him, but Mxyzptlk opens a portal that throws them both into another dimension, a barren wasteland.
Just Lois and Jimmy depart from the laundromat, they come across a group of strangers wearing helmets and body armor. They remove their helmets and reveal themselves to be alternate versions of Lois Lane, from across different universes. They came to this universe because its Clark is in trouble. They take Lois and Jimmy to their flagship and the leader of the group, an older version of Lois, explains that they are members of the League of Lois Lanes, an interdimensional peacekeeping force founded by the Lois of the prime universe, the first Lois to discover and explore the multiverse.
In their peacekeeping efforts, the League recruits the best Loises from across the multiverse. This gives Lois a small inferiority complex, as the Loises from the League have already accomplished many great things, while she herself is still a rookie. One of the squadron's members is an alternate female version of Jimmy, and Leader Lois explains that a few alternate versions of Jimmy are members of the League, as well. The League has been tracking down Mr. Mxyzptlk, a self-proclaimed god of chaos. They had previously managed to disarm him, but a mysterious portal, the same portal opened by the Brain and Monseiur Mallah, allowed Mxyzptlk to escape to Earth-12, the home universe of Lois and Jimmy.
They tracked him to Universe-12 and have reasons to believe that Superman is somehow involved in whatever Mxyzptlk is planning. The League removes a strand of Lois' hair and use it to track Earth-12's tachyons. Leader Lois explains to Lois that this procedure will help them find the Superman of Earth-12. Jimmy bonds with Jalana Olsen, who is also a conspiracy theorist like him, while Lois sneaks into a room and finds a computer, which she uses to find information about the other Loises. When tries to find information about Superman, she finds a file title "File X", a redacted file that can only be opened at the League's headquarters. Meanwhile, the League has already tracked Superman and Mxyzptlk to Earth-14.
The League prepares energy weapons to take down Superman and Lois realizes that they're planning to harm Superman. The League didn't want Lois' help. They only used her to capture her Superman. After encasing Lois inside a crystal tube and holding Jimmy hostage, the League confronts Superman, who has already captured Mxyzptlk. The Loises shoot Superman with their weapons, which cause him severe pain, but Mxyzptlk uses the confrontation to steal the Loises' ship and escape into the multiverse.
Inside the ship, Lois confronts Mxyzptlk, but instead of capturing him, she asks him to take her to the League's headquarters because she wants to find whatever the other Loises are hiding about Superman. Mxyzptlk, amused by Lois' curiosity, says that the Lois of Earth-12 is similar to prime universe Lois in the sense that neither of them trusted anyone. He even reveals that the tape recorder he stole contains a keycard that will open something at the League's headquarters.
Once they reach the League's headquarters, Lois attempts to use the headquarters' computer to learn about Superman, only to find a small orb, while Mxyzptlk learns that the keycard opens a room that contains his hat and once he puts it on, he regains his full power. Suddenly, the alternate Loises, Superman and Jimmy reach the headquarters and confront Mxyzptlk. As the League fight Mxyzptlk, Superman and Lois apologize for ruining their date. Lois believes herself to be the worst Lois in the multiverse and says that Superman would be better with anyone else, but Superman says that there is no one else he'd rather be. They finally share their first kiss, but have no time to enjoy it, as Mxyzptlk is still causing trouble.
Working together, the Daily Planet trio create a plan to defeat Mxyzptlk. Superman distracts Mxyzptlk, Lois removes his hat and Jimmy physically restrains him. The League locks up the weakened Mxyzptlk and attempts to arrest the Daily Planet trio, as well, but Jalana, having bonded with Jimmy, secretly helps them escape back to Earth-12. Jimmy gives Clark and Lois enough privacy so they can enjoy what's left of their date.
Lois returns to her apartment and attempts to activate the orb she had obtained at the League's headquarters. Once she activates it, she sees images of Superman from alternate universes and some of them are evil. Mxyzptlk, having escaped from the League once again, explains that not every Lois in the multiverse wins a Pulitzer and not every Superman is heroic. The orb also contains a green crystal and when Lois asks Mxyzptlk about it, he says that watching her figure it out on her own will be more interesting. He disappears and Lois is left to think about what happened.

Trivia[]
- When telling Clark Kent/Superman that he knows who he is, Mxy turns Clark into a multitude of Supermen: Max Fleischer cartoon Superman, Super Friends Superman, DC Animated Universe Superman and Crab Superman from a universe titled "Earth-Weird".
- The My Adventures with Superman reality is referred to as "Earth-12" by both Mxy and the League of Lois Lanes this title however is already used by the DC Animated Universe or rather it's potential future. The DCAU however in this episode is referred to as Earth-508 another universe name already used by the DC Super Friends universe.
- The title is a parody of "Kiss Kiss Fall in Love", lyrics in "Cherry Blossom Kiss". This song from the album "Sakura Kiss" by Chieko Kawabe was the opening theme song of the 2006 anime series Ouran High School Host Club.
- In the episode there are 2 versions of Lois whose names are confusing at first there is a Lois who is from Earth-1 but later the same Lois is referred to as Earth-Prime Lois and there is a separate Lois referred to as Earth-1 Lois
- Jalana Olsen and Lewis Lane are genderbent counterparts of Lois and Jimmy, their existence presents the possibility of a version of Earth-11 existing. Earth-11 is a universe in DC Comics where most DC characters were born the opposite gender and LGBTQ+ rights and equality are further along in progress than other universes in the multiverse.
- The League headquarters has a "Hall of Lois Lanes" a few of which are notable incarnations from the history of the character:
- Lois Prime aka the Max Fleischer animated Lois from the 1940s Superman theatrical cartoons.
- The DCAU Lois from Superman: The Animated Series (referred to as Earth-508 by Mxyzptlk).
- Superwoman Lois from Action Comics #60, a story where Lois dreams she gained Kryptonian powers from a lifesaving emergency blood transfusion from Superman. It would appear that this version really did gain superpowers as opposed to that story.
- A Black Lois Lane, which could either refer to the infamous story in issue #106 of Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane where Lois used a device that temporarily altered her skin color to investigate racism in America or a Lois from Earth-23, a universe where Superman is a Barack Obama-like figure who is President of the United States and leads a more racially diverse Justice League of America.
- A Native American Lois, possibly a reference to the Justice Riders universe of Earth-18, a world where the era of the Wild West kept going and technology progressed slower or deviated into something else (Ex. A telegraph internet).
- Others included an Arabic Lois (unknown Earth) and a Victorian Lois (Earth-19).
- The Space and Superhero Museum on Earth-1 has objects related to the greater DC Universe: A Mother Box, Hawkman/Hawkwoman’s Mace, A Green Lantern Power Battery, Mr. Terrific’s T-Sphere, John Constantine’s spellbook, Raven’s cloak, a Thanagarian flight harness, The Helmet of Nabu, Stargirl’s Cosmic Rod, a Legion of Superheroes Flight Ring, Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth and Amazonian bracelets and Katana’s Soultaker Sword.
- Jalana mentions that her Flamebird account has a story on a psychic horse named Comet. This is a reference to one of the many Super Pets that the Superman Family had with them during the Silver Age of Comics, debuting in 1962. Comet was a pet of Supergirl who could emulate the powers of a Kryptonian through magic, formerly being a centaur named Biron until cursed by Circe. He also had telepathy to communicate with her.
- The "Space between Worlds" is a reference to "The Bleed" from DC Comics, which exists as the space/medium that separates the various universes of the DC Multiverse.
- Aside from housing Mr. Mxyzptlk's Hat, the panoply inside the League of Lois Lanes is comprised of several other weapons from other fiction. These include:
- The Noisy Cricket pistol from the Men in Black franchise.
- The Wabbajack staff from the video game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
- A variation of Gutts's Dragon Slayer from the Berserk series.
- A Sky-Hook from the first-person-shooter BioShock Infinite.
- A Kyoshi Warrior's war fan from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
- Rem's mace from the Re:Zero anime.
- A Pepper Grinder from the video game: Alice: Madness Returns.
- several other weapons.
