- The Falcone Crime Family was created by Frank Miller and Dave Mazzucchelli, first appearing in Batman #404 in February, 1987. The Falcone Crime Family, also known as "The Roman" Empire after their former leader, Carmine "The Roman" Falcone, was the major crime family of Gotham City in Batman's early career. Following the rampages of Alberto Falcone and Sofia Falcone, their number and power dwindled.
