Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
Now that the eighth episode of the second season has been revealed, let's discuss how the second season of My Adventures with Superman should end.
In this scene of the 2-part finale of the second season, Lois, Jimmy, and their band of mercenaries and mad scientists (consisting of Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Diana Prince, Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Arthur Curry, Carter Hall, Oliver Queen, and Victor Stone) finally reach Brainiac's mothership where Clark/Superman and General Lane are currently held captive. When Lois calls out to her father, General Lane, that she is coming to rescue him and Superman, the already-disgraced General replies that he doesn't want to be saved and orders her to go home, saying that he just wants to die.
This emotional conversation between father and daughter catches the attention of Task Force X (currently consisting of Amanda Waller, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, Alex 'Lex' Luthor, Ethan Avery/Damage, and Joseph Martin/Atomic Skull), who become agitated and therefore not happy by the presence of Lois, Jimmy, and their band of mercenaries and mad scientists, and finally, Brainiac, who is surprised to finally meet Lois's and Jimmy's group face to face.
At the same time, General Sam Lane's full past is revealed, as well as his last reason for being unwilling to return to his daughter's arms: having been betrayed so many times in the past, he's terrified that one day his own daughter Lois will see him as a burden, and also betray him. The General screams that he would rather die than return to Earth with his daughter in the end, leaving Lois an orphan. Lois, Jimmy, and their band of mercenaries and mad scientists quietly acknowledge the reason General Lane had, then Brainiac bursts out laughing, saying the General is absolutely accurate, and nobody would be stupid enough to think he wasn't a burden after serving in the U.S. Army with him. Brainiac points at the Kryptonian Empire flag on top of his mothership and tells Lois that the Kryptonian Empire has conquered countless planets across the universe and would do the same for Earth.
When Lois asks Brainiac what he wants with her father, the latter tells her he just wants Clark/Superman, not General Lane; he wishes to see him suffer the same way he made his real father, Jor-El, suffer.
In the year 2001, Jor-El discovered that the planet Krypton is on the verge of destruction. However, Brainiac denied this was the case to the planet's council and branded Jor-El a criminal when he tried to expose him as a fraud corrupting the planet's entire population against him (including his family), as Brainiac made plans to escape after collecting all of Krypton's data to create clones to rebuild the Kryptonian Empire with. With no choice, Jor-El and his wife Lara blasted their only son, Kal-El, as well as his teenaged cousin Kara Zor-El (who once babysat him prior to the planet's destruction and was accidentally drifted off-course into the Phantom Zone for over the next two decades after getting hit by the shock of Krypton's explosion before she was found by Brainiac), to Earth before Krypton's inevitable destruction. In 2003, twenty years before the main events of My Adventures with Superman, Brainiac approached Amanda Waller while she was serving in the U.S. Army during the War on Terror (while growing weary of his lack of recognition and personal power), where Waller covertly made a deal with Brainiac and struck a deal with him despite Sam Lane's objections - if Waller would help Brainiac and his Kryptonian Empire invade Earth as a staging ground for tricking every country in the world into fighting each other thus triggering World War III, Waller would be given command of Earth under New World Order where a new Kryptonian Empire will be built with all potential oppositions gone - with Amanda Waller as the ambassador of Earth.
Lois eventually acknowledges the fact that Task Force X is secretly working with Brainiac and his Kryptonian Empire to start an apocalyptic, thermonuclear war worldwide, and then tells Oliver Queen, one of her group recruited by her and Jimmy, to shoot down the flag. Oliver complies, utilizing his bow to launch a fiery arrow at the flag, setting it ablaze and shocking Brainiac, General Lane, Clark/Superman, and Task Force X beyond words; mankind has just declared war on the Kryptonian Empire. Furious, Brainiac questions Lois's sanity, but she just bellows back that she will risk everything to save the people she loved, and then tells her father, General Lane, to admit that he wants to live. Unable to doubt his daughter any longer after realizing he can learn from her to stay alive after all, and therefore wants to reinstate himself in the U.S. Army, General Lane tearfully begs Lois and her group through the top of his lungs to save him - even Clark/Superman and Kara burst into tears of joy over the General's newfound determination as a military officer in the U.S. Army.
